Storage Guidelines
- The carts are stored in specific rooms of each building. The cart must be returned to this room after use.
- The cart must returned with all devices on the cart and securely plugged in.
Usage Guidelines - Teachers
- Laptops and iPads are to be used by trained teachers only. Laptops should not be used by is substitute in the classroom without specific directions for use.
- Teachers or associates only may transport the cart. Students should not transport the carts to another location.
- Model how to use the laptops, handle them appropriately, etc.
- Allow students to go to and from the carts a couple at a time. Large crowds around the computer cart can sometimes lead to mass confusion and accidents with the laptops.
- All students using the laptops must have signed the District Computer Use form.
- Monitor student screens constantly during the class period.
- Teachers may revoke a student's privileges to use a device at any time. The devices are school property and must be used appropriately for educational tasks. Try to teach the appropriate behavior and take away devices that students refuse to use properly.
- Passwords that you use for student devices must be shared with the technology integrationist for maintenance purposes.
Sign-Out Guidelines
- Teachers must use and abide by the sign-out sheets below. The teacher that signed up first has priority to use the number of laptops or iPads specified.
- The laptop and iPad carts must be shared equitably throughout the building and among grade levels. Any teacher may sign out a cart from any location in the building, but should check on the availability of their grade-level cart first.
- Teachers must utilize the laptop or iPad sign out sheet for assigning devices to students. This may be collected and kept on file for future reference if needed.
- Carts cannot be signed out for longer than a 2 week period of time. After 2 weeks, the teacher may sign up one day in advance only for the next week to allow other teachers access.
Planning for Use
- Plan and teach the digital citizenship skills necessary each time the devices are used.
- Have a plan for students following the lesson or activity on the device. Students should not be playing games that are not related to the curriculum during instructional time.
Classroom Usage Guidelines
- There is to be no food or drink near the carts or laptops.
- Students must return the device to the appropriately number slot and plug the device in.
- Devices may be used for curriculum-related tasks only.
Problems
- All maintenance issues must be recorded in the maintenance log. Each teacher is responsible for submitting tickets for laptops that are not working during their session with the laptops. You must not the cart storage location, device number, your name, and a description of the problem.
